Salon Spotlight: Sit Still

11.05.2018

How did you get started opening Sit Still?
It never crossed my mind to open a salon until I kept hearing about how difficult it was to find a good place for my friends to take their kids. Salons tend to not want to have children in the salon let alone cut their hair. Parents were often left with just the chain salons that were not the best haircuts or had the same relationship and experience as their own salon. So, I did my research and looked into and found there was nothing out there that met all the needs for parents and kids and I looked at it as an opportunity to start a quality hair salon with exceptional experience for the parent and child. Parents can feel relaxed and taken care of and the child can have fun while getting a haircut.

What is your mission?
Our mission is quality haircuts for kids. Chill place for parents. And everyone is having a blast.

What is unique point of difference?
Kid salons tend to be outdated. We know most parents don't want to go into a place that feels like chuck e. cheese. We know you want a great haircut, skilled stylists, and clean, friendly environment. You'll get quality time with our stylists here. You will have an opportunity to get to know your stylists to achieve your kid's best hair game.

What do you want people to remember your salon for?
Super fun and caring. Oh! and you got a great haircut as a bonus :)

Your marketing is so special to your brand, what inspires you and how do you keep it so fresh?
We like to keep things simple and clean. Not too trendy. We also like nostalgic and a nod to any old school era. We love music - you'll find lots of music quotes of our favorite musicians...and we love a good party. So, we love bright colors and anything that reminds us of our own childhood.

What is on the horizon for your salon? 5 years?
We are franchising our model and we are forecasting 150-200 salons nationally in 5 years.

What could other salons learn from you or take away from this to do in their own business?
It's not just about the hair. It's the entire experience that starts at the front door. Don't do it just because you love doing hair. Do it because you love helping people.

What are your favorite products?
My latest faves are the entire line from Loma. But I always have on hand Davines OI All In One Milk, Living Proof Dry Shampoo, and Davines Melu Shampoo/Conditioner.
