Salon Spotlight: Altered Ego

08.01.2018

From the moment you walk through the door, to the time you leave, we want you to feel welcome and cared for. It is important to us that you look and feel your very best. We also promise to supply you with the knowledge and quality products to recreate that salon look at home daily. Most importantly, we strive to educate ourselves as professionals on the latest technology and fashions available and bring that experience to you, our clients. And of course – have fun doing it always!

How do you attract your male clientele?
We attract our male clientele by providing quality products and in trendy styles. Our Barbers and Stylists that specialize in men’s cuts have sought out advanced cutting methods and keep up with social media.

What makes your Salon different?
Altered and Male Ego are passionate about higher education. We are a teaching salon and promote our stylists and barbers on a performance-based level system. We believe that a great training program will only better our industry. This year we introduced a new platform allowing them to work their way into an ownership position.

What keeps you motivated to carry out this mission?
I am second generation hairstylist and grew up in the salon. I have a love for the industry and work to preserve its integrity. Our industry in a whole has undergone a shift and we are seeing a rise in independent talent. As a traditional commission salon, I see the importance of commission but recognize the desire to be independent. I am working to bridge the gap and blend the two in our salon. The new talent and seasoned stylists make for a great collaboration to grow from each other. That is the magic that makes me motivated and stay on track.

Where would you like to see your salon in the next 5 years?
I am working toward growing our blended salon culture with Stylist and Barber training programs to grow our next generation of talent. In addition, I would like to coach other salon professionals on building a training program within their own salon cultures.

Favorite Reuzel product?
We have a few favorites but our top choice is the Clay Matte Pomade. I really like the way it styles and the fact that it is water soluble.
