Salon Spotlight: Collective Concept

01.25.2019

Owner, Deseree Garcia, started her career as a member of guest services at Graeber & Company Salon and Spa in downtown Boise in 2003. It was here that she fell in love with the industry and wanted to figure out a way to work with her mentors forever. “These amazing professionals taught me as much about life as they did the industry and hair artistry. More than anything else, I really enjoy the everyday life I lead behind my chair. My clientele has transcended the role of "guest" and I love that I get to call them my friends.”

In August 2015, she left her salon of 12 years and started Collective Concept. “The mission was to create a positive and creative environment for myself and my fellow artists. I love working in a space surrounded by talented stylists, local artwork, & a product line that practices kindness and environmental sustainability. Our salon has a clean aesthetic, with charming flares around every corner. Our building is 113 years old and has beautiful exposed brick, original fixtures, and magic only found in historical architecture. The entire goal of my career is to make women look and feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.”

What makes Collective Concept so special?
“I feel like our unique point of difference is Value Added Services. We always talk about things that set us apart from the salon around the corner (actually we have 6 salons in our building alone). Each and every client that walks through our door gets something “extra” that another stylist didn’t think to offer. Hand massages, scalp treatments, hot towels, neck massages, deep conditions, shine treatments... at least one is included with every service. Life is hectic, and we love to be an oasis for not only our clientele, but for each other. We are really really dedicated to every relationship formed within our walls."

What can other salons learn from Collective Concept?
“There is no competition inside of our salon. Everyone has their strength, and we are more than happy to refer clients to each other. It’s so real to watch the clientele of my stylists and honestly see the Potential Perfect Guest or “PPG” method working. One of my stylists has all Louis Vuitton bags walking in all day, one has young and gorgeous millennial Christians filling her books, while our Nail Specialist has mastered the art of attracting the most positive humans you’ve ever met. Put the PPG method to work in your salon, it’s amazing. Your vibe attracts your tribe.”
